Interim Pastor Jim Saxman - Interim Pastor - [Account] -

Jim Saxman has been announced as Oberlin Church's Interim Pastor. He officially began his call with us July 1, 2008.
 
Ty Stewart - Youth Director/Worship Leader -


Ty and Carolyn come to us from the twin cities area of Minnesota. Ty has been employed at Crossroads Church in Lakeville, Minnesota since 2002 as well as working at Hosanna Church and Berean Baptist Church during the past year.  

Ty was born in Wisconsin, but grew up in Williston, North Dakota where he was a two time high school state wrestling champion. He was also the Ultimate Frisbee Champion at Northwestern College. We think this is where the participant jumps up and catches the Frisbee with his teeth.Carolyn was born in Reno, Nevada, but has lived in Idaho, Utah, Oregon and Montana. She graduated from high school in Montana. 

Both Ty and Carolyn have degrees from Northwestern College located in the twin cities area of Minnesota. Ty’s degree is in Youth Ministry with a minor in music. Carolyn has a BA in Ministry with an emphasis in psychology. They met at college and were married in Montana at an outdoor ceremony in the Rocky Mountains. Their children are Jaxon and Ellia.
 
 
Tim Root - Worship Pastor -

Tim Root holds a doctorate in choral conducting from the University of Washington. He also holds degrees from the University of Michigan, Eastern Washington University, and Dallas Theological Seminary.

He was an accompanist for the Seattle Girls' Choir, and music director for numerous summer-stock productions in the Seattle/Tacoma area. He was one of the choral directors with the Tahoma Girls' Choir in Tacoma, WA. Tim has served as music director for numerous churches in Illinois, Texas, and Washington. Currently, Tim is an elementary music teacher in the Auburn School District.  His wife, Rachel, is organist and contemporary worship leader at St. Mary's Episcopal Church in Lakewood, WA. They live in Steilacoom.
